As well as the requirements for English, Maths and Science, there are  high expectations for that subject knowledge of trainees in ICT.

In addition we are looking for candidates whose commitment to education has probably already led them to take an active part in a primary school – perhaps working as a volunteer on a part-time basis, or as a teaching/learning assistant.

These are some of the qualities and experiences that are also required:

  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to Primary Education
  • Experience relevant to working with young children
  • Willingness to work hard
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Resilience, flexibility and a sense of humour

There is no one set of criteria that sums up what makes a good teacher.  Professional Graduates come from all walks of life and come with a broad range of experiences.  Whilst we would expect you to be in sympathy with the aims and values of the Church schools in which you will be working, many of you will belong to other faiths or have no religious commitment; that doesn’t prevent you from joining our course.  Above all, we are looking for those of you who are truly committed to teaching.

We aim to recruit high quality graduates to equip them to be confident, effective and resilient early years’ teachers, particularly in urban schools

Note: All applicants to initial teacher training programmes must undergo an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure check.
