Strengths of the Course

As a small provider:

  • we offer trainees support in all aspects of training and pastoral care
  • there is a strong sense of community and collaboration
  • trainees are placed in LDBS partnership schools for their practices.

From the beginning of their training, trainees:

  • encounter the challenges and opportunities offered from our multi-faith, multi-lingual and multi-ethnic society
  • are equipped to meet the world of urban education and to respond confidently
  • are introduced to the values of the church school.

As well as teaching all the National Curriculum subjects, the development of spiritual, moral, social and cultural aspects of teaching and learning  (SMSC) are specialisms of the course and these values are central to all centre and school-based teaching.

Whilst we would expect trainees to be in sympathy with the aims and values of the church schools in which they work, many of them will belong to other faiths or have no religious commitment. That’s fine, it does not prevent anyone from joining our course. Above all we are looking for candidates who are truly committed to teaching.

 Employment

  • Our trainees have an excellent employment record.
  •  In September 2011 100% of our graduates were employed in teaching.
  • 76% were employed in Church schools.
